Kirby’s statement arrives as Marvel Comics faces renewed calls To retire the skull symbol associated with the Punisher, Which was used by rioters on January 6, as well as by law enforcement personnel during the Black Lives Matter protests last summer. Actor John Bernthal, who played the anti-hero Frank Castle on Netflix The Punisher The series, which provoked his hatred, wrote on Twitter: „These people are misguided and misguided. They have nothing to do with what Frank represents or revolves around.“

Interestingly, this topic was covered in the 2019 edition of The Punisher Comic, which showed a scene where Castle confronts a group of New York City policemen claiming to be on the same side. After clearly telling them, „We are not the same,“ the Punisher went on to suggest a hero they should follow instead. „Boys need a role model? His name is Captain America, and he will be happy with you.“
